Griffou is a re-interpretation of the 19th century hotel and restaurant/bar that once occupied the English townhouse at 21 West 9th Street. It has, in its history, hosted a plethora of personalities inspired by the bohemian spirit of the neighborhood, including Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, Edna Saint Vincent Millay and Mae West. Griffou retains the classic feel of the establishment giving it a modern twist.
